Our school is helping all students develop world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by providing opportunities for students to be leaders, inquirers, collaborators, and innovators. Our mission, “Connect, Engage, Create”, is demonstrated through instructional best practices facilitated by a faculty that engages in continuous professional development. Our teachers and staff engage in professional development that builds solid foundations for professional learning communities and strong collaboration among teachers.
Woodmont Middle School understands the benefits of integrating creative processes into their classrooms, such as providing their students with hands-on opportunities, fostering flexible thinking, and enhancing students’ conceptual understanding. In an effort to prepare students for college and career readiness, we support the implementation of more high school credit courses in middle school core and related subjects, including established programs in drama. Additionally, we offer Project Lead the Way: Gateway to Technology, a pre-engineering class in which students design and build. We help students develop the skills needed to think critically and independently, work collaboratively, and take a disciplined approach to studying. We work to help all students succeed, no matter what their academic success has been in the past. Each day is a new day and a new chance to learn something new. Our plethora of programs and initiatives to challenge students is proof of our commitment. We also believe that it is essential to involve parents and the community for the students to reach their maximum potential. The more opportunities that we give students to get involved with local businesses and see successful people from their community, the more inspired they will be to succeed in their own life.
Our guidance department uses career assessments to help students identify their interests in the sixteen career clusters. Individual graduation plans are developed with eighth-grade students to determine their career interests and prepare them for career exploration in high school. We provide students with the opportunity to participate in Career Café to be introduced to different careers. The middle school experience is further enhanced through collaborations with community members who share their knowledge and expertise with students. We expect students to adhere to the academic, technology, and assessment integrity policies which support world class skills and career characteristics.
Woodmont Middle School focuses on its mission to prepare students academically artistically, and socially to become responsible, productive citizens in a global society in an effort to help them shine brighter. We strive to provide our students with a variety of opportunities that will achieve this goal and provide a solid foundation for continued success.
Woodmont Middle School will continue to move our school forward to prepare our students for high school and beyond.
