Brook Glenn Elementary, with a tradition for excellence, challenged by growth and diversity, is dedicated to building a partnership among home, school, and community. We provide educational opportunity through standards-based curriculum and high quality instruction so that all students will develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by working alongside families and community. We encourage our students to be innovative, creative, and use critical thinking skills. At Brook Glenn, we celebrate our differences and diversity through achieving, believing and caring in an inclusive, safe, and student-centered learning environment where everyone can learn and become better thinkers and independent learners. We provide a caring and academically challenging learning environment, which cultivates and nurtures lifelong learners to excel in an interdependent global society.
Brook Glenn is committed to increasing student achievement for every student who enters our doors. Our plan of action is to decrease the learning gap and increase the percentage of students meeting or exceeding target on South Carolina state assessments; refine our delivery of balanced literacy and math instruction; identify and provide intervention services for struggling learners, incorporate more small groups for remediation and incorporate technology to enhance instruction and assessment. Our students are acquiring digital literacy skills through the usage of technology to process knowledge, communicate, collaborate, create, and conduct research – truly world class skills needed in becoming productive members of the global community.
Brook Glenn promotes student well-being in the learning process through mental health supports and teaching social, emotional, and life skills. With continued support and a strong partnership with Public Education Partners (PEP), supportive parents, established mentoring and tutoring partnerships with local churches, businesses, colleges/high schools, and our professional staff, we know our students can reach their highest potential.
Our staff participates in differentiated professional developments that hone each teacher's repertoire of best practices in the classroom. Teachers collaborate as a true Professional Learning Community as they discuss and reflect upon their teaching strategies, assessment practices, data, and expertise as a means to continually question, reevaluate, refine, and improve teaching strategies and knowledge.
Brook Glenn promotes a school climate that brings schools, families, and other stakeholders together to support students in developing a healthy lifestyle through participation in CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health), Livewell Greenville programs and a wide range of physical activity which includes Mileage Club and Hoops for Health. To enhance leadership, communication skills, and self-esteem, our students participate in activities such as Morning News Show, Safety Patrol, Chorus, Book Buddies, Art Club, Book Club, and Student Council. Parent involvement and community connections continue to improve through planned Guidance Advisory Council, SIC, PTA, and school events.
At Brook Glenn, we acknowledge our responsibility to help our students connect learning with real life and provide them with the necessary skills to prepare them for success with world class skills and life and career characteristic to be successful in the 21st Century and beyond.
