Hopkins Elementary School remains committed to ensuring that all students develop the World-Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by incorporating innovative leadership practices and high-quality instructional systems. Our administration, faculty, and staff are dedicated to nurturing the whole child—supporting students’ academic, emotional, physical, and social well-being. We maintain high expectations, foster a culture of respect and responsibility, and ensure that every student is equipped with the skills necessary to grow and succeed.
As we enter the 2026–2027 school year, we proudly continue our work as the first school in South Carolina to be named a Certified Visible Learning School. This distinction reflects our ongoing commitment to implementing Visible Learning practices that make teaching and learning transparent and impactful. Students actively engage in understanding their learning goals, tracking their progress, and seeking feedback to improve. At the same time, teachers intentionally reflect on their instructional practices, using data and feedback to refine their methods and maximize student outcomes.
Our continued implementation of Visible Learning has strengthened our shared language of learning across the school. This approach empowers students to take ownership of their progress while building confidence through meaningful feedback and reflection. As a result, we continue to cultivate a positive, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.
Family and community engagement remain essential components of our success. We will continue to strengthen partnerships with organizations such as Jerusalem Baptist Church, Bible Way of Atlas Road, Trinity Presbyterian Church, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, Beulah Baptist Church, and Temple of Faith Bible Way Church, as well as with our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and School Improvement Council (SIC). Through events such as the Back-to-School Bash, Curriculum Night, Faith & Fellowship, Grandparents’ Day Drop-In, Thirsty Thursday Parent Drop-Ins, Nacho Average Parent Meetings, and Family Game Days, we will continue to build strong connections that support student achievement and school pride.
We are also proud to continue implementing the Ron Clark House System, which plays a vital role in promoting a positive school climate and culture. Through this system, students strengthen their character, build meaningful relationships, and develop a strong sense of belonging. Each student remains connected to an advocate within his or her house, ensuring support and encouragement throughout the educational journey.
Our commitment to technology integration continues as we provide all students in kindergarten through fifth grade with access to laptops. This access supports student-centered instruction and blended-learning experiences, preparing students with the skills necessary for success in an ever-evolving world.
At Hopkins Elementary, we believe that education is a shared responsibility. Together with our families and community partners, we will continue to empower our students to grow, achieve, and lead. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to preparing our students to be confident, capable learners and future leaders who embody the values of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
