St. Andrews Middle School helps all students develop the World-Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. The faculty and staff work to incorporate research-proven strategies in the classroom, as well as interventions and extracurricular activities, all of which promote critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. We believe all stakeholders share the responsibility for advancing our mission of transforming lives through education and empowering all students to achieve their potential and realize their dreams. We continue to implement the initiatives outlined in the District Strategic Plan and the School Renewal Plan to increase student achievement.
Our goal is to improve the academic and personal success of all students. A school-wide focus on standards-based instruction and the use of assessment data through weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings has increased academic rigor in all content areas. During the 2025–2026 school year, St. Andrews Middle School continued to provide targeted academic support through intervention programs, extended learning opportunities, and data-driven instructional practices. Teachers utilized formative assessments and benchmark data to identify student needs and implement differentiated instruction to support growth and achievement. Students were provided opportunities to engage in rigorous coursework, technology-integrated learning experiences, and collaborative problem-solving activities designed to prepare them for high school, college, and career success.
St. Andrews Middle School takes great pride in providing students with opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and prepare them for future success. During the 2025–2026 school year, our AVID students participated in college tours of Columbia College, Winthrop University, South Carolina State University, and Claflin University, exposing them to a variety of postsecondary opportunities. In addition, representatives from Midlands Technical College visited our campus to share information about academic programs, career pathways, and financial aid opportunities available to students pursuing higher education.
We are also proud to have inducted 43 students into the National Junior Beta Club and to have earned both the National Junior Beta Club School of Merit and School of Distinction awards. Throughout the year, our Student Council, AVID students, and National Junior Beta Club members demonstrated a commitment to service by completing community service projects, including collecting canned goods for local families in need and recognizing faculty and staff during Teacher Appreciation Month.
Academic excellence was also showcased through student achievement in STEM education. One of our eighth-grade students earned third place in Richland One School District’s STEM Showcase for an outstanding science fair project.
Our orchestra program continued to excel at the district and state levels. Fifteen orchestra students were selected to participate in the District Honors Orchestra, and two eighth-grade students were accepted to attend the prestigious Cannon Music Camp. Additionally, our orchestra students competed in the Music in the Parks Festival, where they earned a second-place finish with a High Excellent rating. The group was also awarded the Esprit de Corps Award, recognizing the ensemble for its professionalism, outstanding character, and exemplary behavior throughout the event.
These accomplishments reflect the dedication of our students, staff, families, and community partners in fostering a culture of academic achievement, leadership, service, and excellence at St. Andrews Middle School.
