Pinehurst Elementary School is committed to ensuring every student develops the knowledge, skills, and character traits outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. As a school serving 700 students, including a large population of Multilingual Learners, we believe all students can achieve at high levels when provided with rigorous instruction, strong relationships, and the right supports.
Our shared vision guides everything we do: We will develop adults and educate students through high-level coaching and instruction, elevate and empower all, and equip our students to succeed in life. This vision comes to life through high-quality, standards-based instruction, intentional small-group teaching, and a relentless focus on student growth.
At Pinehurst, collaboration drives improvement. Teachers work closely with instructional coaches through daily planning, weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), learning walks, and coaching cycles to analyze student data, refine instructional practices, and ensure all students engage in meaningful, grade-level learning experiences. Our school is committed to increasing student engagement, strengthening differentiated instruction, and using data to drive instructional decisions.
To maximize instructional expertise, grades 2–5 utilize a departmentalized model, allowing teachers to specialize in either English Language Arts and Social Studies or Math and Science. This structure supports deeper content knowledge, stronger lesson design, and improved student outcomes.
Pinehurst is proud to partner with Clemson University through the Clemson Residency Project, which has expanded co-teaching opportunities throughout the school. This partnership enhances instruction, increases student support, and provides valuable professional learning experiences for educators. Co-teaching practices extend into our Multilingual Learner, intervention, and special education programs to ensure students receive targeted support while remaining connected to rigorous classroom instruction.
As a school with a rich and diverse multilingual community, we are committed to creating inclusive learning environments where all students have access to grade-level content. Our instructional model prioritizes core classroom instruction while providing dedicated intervention and support blocks that address individual student needs. We believe that strong attendance is critical to academic success and work closely with families to ensure students are present, engaged, and connected to learning every day.
In addition to academic excellence, Pinehurst is committed to fostering a positive and supportive school culture. Through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), our SOAR expectations—Self-Control, Organization, Accountability, and Respect—and the Second Step social-emotional learning program, students develop the skills needed to be successful both in and out of the classroom. We celebrate positive behavior, encourage student leadership, and work to ensure every child feels safe, valued, and connected.
At Pinehurst Elementary, we believe that strong partnerships between students, families, staff, and the community are essential to student success. Together, we are building a culture of high expectations, continuous growth, and opportunity for every child.
