Lower Richland High School is dedicated to providing a rigorous and well-rounded education that prepares students for success in college, careers, and beyond. Grounded in a rich cultural heritage and supported by a strong community, Lower Richland is a place where students are challenged to excel, discover their talents, and reach their full potential. We take pride in developing leaders who are prepared to make a positive impact on the world.
As a proud International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, Lower Richland offers the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP), along with Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment opportunities. In the 2024–2025 school year, we expanded our IB program to ensure that all students participated in this globally recognized framework. During the 2025–2026 school year, two cohorts of students were enrolled in IB English courses, providing even greater access to rigorous instruction focused on critical thinking, communication, and global awareness. These opportunities prepare our students to compete and succeed in an ever-changing world.
Our commitment to excellence extends beyond academics. Through the Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Advancement Grant, students have opportunities to explore and develop their artistic talents. Our Career and Technical Education (CTE) program provides hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for high-demand careers, while our award-winning STEM program inspires innovation and problem-solving.
Lower Richland proudly celebrates the accomplishments of its students. The Class of 2026 earned more than $7.5 million in scholarships, and 236 students completed CTE pathways, including four students who achieved the distinction of becoming quadruple completers. Our tradition of excellence also shines through the state and national victories of our JROTC Drill Team.
This year, our theme, “One School, One Sting: I Am Rising, You Are Rising, We Are Rising Together,” reflected our commitment to growth, unity, and success. We were also honored to celebrate 100 Years of Education in the Lower Richland Community, recognizing the generations of students, educators, families, and community members who have helped shape the legacy of education in Lower Richland. The celebration brought our community together for two days of historical reflections, school pride, engaging activities, and a cluster-wide event that honored our past while looking toward our future.
The strength of Lower Richland High School is found in its people. Our students, families, staff, alumni, and community partners work together to create a culture of excellence, opportunity, and pride. The Diamond Hornet spirit represents resilience, determination, unity, and a commitment to success—qualities that continue to define who we are.
Lower Richland High School lives by its motto:
“Diamond Hornets are always shining and buzzing with success.”
