C.E. Williams Middle School (North Campus for 6th grade and South Campus for 7th and 8th grades) is committed to developing the world-class skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through rigorous academic instruction, meaningful learning experiences, and a focus on the whole child. Students are equipped with the knowledge, communication, and critical thinking skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. Additionally, participation in visual and performing arts, Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, clubs, athletics, and service-learning opportunities helps students develop the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing global society.
As a middle school, C.E. Williams plays a critical role in sustaining and accelerating literacy development to support Charleston County School District's vision that every student reads proficiently. Our school prioritizes disciplinary literacy by embedding reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking across all content areas. We individualize instruction through flex periods, adaptive software, and data-informed interventions. Regular formative assessments help identify trends and target instruction, ensuring all students receive the support or enrichment they need.
Our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) use a continuous improvement model centered on data-driven decision-making, high-quality instruction, and collaborative professional practice. Teachers regularly analyze assessment data to identify student needs, monitor growth, and adjust instruction accordingly. This collaborative approach promotes consistency in instructional practices and ensures that decisions are responsive to student performance.
C.E. Williams Middle School strategically uses Charleston County School District's Weighted Student Funding to provide equitable access to resources and targeted support. Funds are used for co-teaching models, intervention programs, instructional materials, academic enrichment, student wellness initiatives, and extended learning opportunities. These investments ensure that all students, particularly those requiring additional support, have access to the resources necessary for academic growth and personal success.
At C.E.Williams, we are committed to being academically rigorous and developmentally responsive. Our mission is to equip all students with the world-class skills, knowledge, and character they need to succeed in high school, college, and careers in an ever-changing global society.
