In January 2001, Hilton Head Island Elementary School became one of the first schools in the United States to be authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). Since that time, the school has successfully completed IB reauthorization visits in 2009, 2014, 2019, and 2024, demonstrating its continued commitment to excellence in global education.
During the 2024 PYP evaluation visit, the school received multiple commendations for the outstanding learning experiences and opportunities provided to students. We are especially fortunate to be part of a fully articulated IB continuum on Hilton Head Island, where students have access to the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP) as they progress through their educational journey.
Students at Hilton Head Island Elementary are challenged and inspired by a highly trained, dedicated faculty that delivers a rigorous and engaging curriculum. They benefit from active family involvement, a supportive community, and a leadership team committed to the belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels. High expectations are the standard, and instruction is differentiated to provide rigorous learning opportunities for all students while ensuring appropriate support for those requiring remediation or intervention.
