Charleston Progressive Academy (CPA) is dedicated to developing the world‑class skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our mission, “Building Tomorrow’s Leaders,” is realized through the Leader in Me (LIM) initiative, which has earned CPA Lighthouse status—the district’s only school to do so. LIM strengthens critical thinking, collaboration, and communication by teaching the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in student‑friendly language.
LIM directly supports the Profile of the SC Graduate. Habits 1–3—Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First—build World‑Class Knowledge. Habits 4–7—Think Win‑Win, Seek First to Understand, Synergize, Sharpen the Saw—develop World‑Class Skills. The 8th Habit, Find Your Voice, further strengthens students’ communication and leadership.
CPA remains committed to the district’s goal of ensuring all fifth‑grade students read on grade level by 2027. Key strategies include maintaining fidelity to reading and math curricula through weekly PLCs, conducting weekly instructional observations with feedback, ensuring all teachers complete LETRS training, and providing structured, data‑driven interventions during our schoolwide W.I.N. (What I Need) block. Weighted Student Funds supported these efforts, including hiring a STEM/science teacher to deliver standards‑based instruction to fourth grade and exploratory STEM experiences schoolwide.
These strategies contributed to strong results on our 2026 Report Card, where student progress was rated “Good” and school climate “Excellent.” To further promote student ownership, CPA uses leadership binders, data chats, accountability partners, and data walls—core LIM practices that help students track goals and select strategies for long‑term success.
Our progress is made possible through the ongoing support of our families and community. Thank you for your partnership as we continue our shared commitment to “Building Tomorrow’s Leaders!”
