Project-based learning, anchored in a STEAM framework, is a cornerstone of our instructional program. Students develop creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills while tackling real-world challenges through the engineering design process. Across all content areas, academic literacy remains a priority as students strengthen their abilities in reading, annotation, analysis, vocabulary development, research, writing, and oral communication. Mathematics instruction emphasizes problem-solving through meaningful, real-world applications. Our classrooms are engaging, hands-on learning environments where formative assessment and timely feedback guide students toward high levels of achievement. Sevier offers a robust and diverse related arts program that includes instrumental and choral music, visual arts, world languages, robotics, and digital media. Our expanding course catalog includes high school credit opportunities in Engineering, Computer Science, Google Applications, Multimedia, Chorus, Band, Strings, Art, English, Mathematics, and seven virtual course offerings. Our nationally recognized robotics program has qualified for the VEX World Championships for eight consecutive years, reflecting our students’ innovation, dedication, and excellence.
Friday morning Enrichment sessions provide students with opportunities to explore personal interests, accelerate learning, and engage in activities that promote academic and personal growth. We remain committed to educating the whole child through comprehensive counseling services, student leadership opportunities, and a wide range of extracurricular activities that support students academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our ABC initiative, Attendance, Behavior, and Classroom Performance, provides targeted mentoring, monitoring, and motivation while recognizing and celebrating student growth and success. Quarterly Gathering of Falcons ceremonies honor students for both academic achievement and exemplary character, reinforcing our commitment to a positive and supportive school culture.
Sevier Middle School has been re-designated twice as a School to Watch by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform and the Association for Middle Level Education. We are also proud to be a re-designated RAMP school, earning the highest recognition awarded by the American School Counselor Association for excellence in comprehensive school counseling programs.
