Southeast Middle School Message
2025–2026 School Year
At Southeast Middle School, we remain committed to fostering a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes student attendance, academic achievement, and responsible behavior. Guided by our motto, "All in, No excuses," we continue to pursue excellence while supporting the growth and success of every student.
During the 2025–2026 school year, students will participate in universal screening for Reading and Mathematics through the Renaissance STAR Assessment. These assessments will help us monitor student progress, establish meaningful growth goals, and provide targeted support to meet individual learning needs. Students will be encouraged to set personal academic goals and celebrate milestones as they work toward achieving and exceeding their growth targets.
Southeast Middle School is proud to be an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) school. The IB MYP provides a challenging academic framework that encourages students to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. Throughout the school year, teachers will continue to integrate the IB Learner Profile and philosophy into daily instruction, helping students become knowledgeable, caring, reflective, and globally minded individuals.
Our certified teachers will develop and implement high-quality instructional unit plans aligned with Richland County School District One (RCSD1) curriculum standards and pacing guides. Student data conferences will continue to be an important part of our instructional program, empowering students to take ownership of their learning and understand their academic progress.
Supporting students’ social-emotional well-being remains a priority. School counselors and teachers will provide Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) opportunities through classroom lessons, small-group instruction, and individualized support services. We will continue utilizing Mastery Connect to administer common formative assessments, monitor academic growth, and identify students who may benefit from additional interventions. Through collaborative data analysis and Deep Data Dive conferences, staff will use student performance data to inform instruction and develop targeted action plans that support student success.
Leadership development will continue through student organizations such as the Young Men Leadership Alliance and Young Ladies of Essence. These programs provide students with opportunities to strengthen leadership skills, build character, and develop a sense of responsibility both inside and outside the classroom. Students will also be encouraged to participate in community service initiatives that promote civic engagement, empathy, and service to others.
As we move through the 2025–2026 school year, Social-Emotional Learning will remain a focus for students, families, and staff. With the support of our school counselors and Parent Engagement Specialist, we will continue implementing programs and initiatives designed to positively impact student behavior, attendance, academic achievement, and overall well-being.
At Southeast Middle School, we are dedicated to educating the whole child while supporting our faculty and staff in achieving school-wide excellence. Together, we will continue to build a culture of high expectations, meaningful relationships, and continuous growth.
